Do I Have Your Attention? The Manipulation of Design and Space is my undergraduate thesis that explores how graphic design can be used within a space to manipulate behavior. This means that digital and physical spaces can be used as a tool to get audience members to buy a product, use a media platform, behave a certain way, traverse a space in a certain way, and ignore certain things
I want to specifically focus on how spaces can be used to influence and even manipulate people into behaving or observing in certain ways through the use of wayfinding and signage. I also want to explore some of the darker and more subtle ways that space manipulates audiences to ask the question:
do we even realize how the spaces around us affect and control our behavior?

Scan is an individual installation that works in tandem with this thesis. It encapsulates the idea that environmental design has been used for decades to inform and influence those interacting with the space.
For typeface, I wanted to pay homage to typefaces used in wayfinding and various signage. The type should be legible and simple in form, while maintaining a sense of boldness that can grab attention.
While deciding on color, I immediately thought of neon signs and grunge band posters from the 80s and 90s. I knew that I wanted a highlighter yellow to act as the base of my posters, as yellow is the most eye-catching color. Building off of this, I decided to duo-tone the images and photos I used on my poster with green and a light shade of blue and green to contrast with the yellow without being too harsh. Lastly, I used a darker blue to act as a dark neutral for the text and wayfinding line.
